EXEMPTION 38 – AMSA

Exemption 38 Marine Safety (low complexity duties) <12 metres

This 1 or 2 day Gold Coast boat training course provides training and assessment in line with the requirements for AMSA Exemption 38, for limited maritime operation to undertake low complexity duties with restricted operations.

If you have a current Marine Boat Licence or proof of industry experience, Recognition of Prior Learning, you will only need to complete EX38 Day 2.

EX38 Day 1:  Theory includes pre-study as per RMDL Recreational Marine Driver Licence (Boat Licence) Online Course, Boat and /or PWC (Jetski) Online Course (link) & Onsite RMDL Practical & Assessment & Exam

EX38 Day 2:  Includes 2 hours in class (at Coast Guard) PowerPoint training session, prior to practical demonstration and assessment with limited numbers.  1 to 2 hours will be a demonstration with the trainer and assisting students with any areas of uncertainty.  On Water, Practical includes navigation and trip plan of the Broadwater with 2 – 3  hours On Water practical assessment of the student according to the specified AMSA 536 Final Practical Assessment Record.

Approximate Time 8 am – 3 pm Student numbers dependant.

Cost: $650

There is No Sea Service required or formal entry requirement for this course.  However, students are required to have numeracy and literacy skills of at least year 10 student in an Australian school or equivalent.

• NTMS will make adjustments to training delivery and assessment strategies for those students who need LLN support.
